Polling station assistant sent home after he turned up dressed as a clown

One of the people that had been called up to staff a polling station in the Limburg town of Maasmechelen was sent home on Sunday morning after he turn up dressed as a clown.

When he was asked by the Chairman of the polling station to swear an oath stating he simply nodded without saying a word. The Chairman of the polling station in the Cultural Centre at in the Eisden-Tuinwijk area of Maasmechelen noted that the silent clown had refused to carry out his duties as a polling station assistant and the man was sent home.

The Chairman told him than he can expect to be fined and the incident was reported to the police who will file a crime report.
