Polling station evacuated due to fire alarm

A polling station in the Limburg town of Tongeren was evacuated for a time on Sunday morning due to a fire alarm. The alarm went off at the polling station on the Sacramentstraat at around 9:30.

Those staffing the polling station were left with no other choice than to ask those that were voting or waiting to vote to leave the building. The fire service attended the scene and looked what had triggered the alarm. No fire was found and the alarm was deactivated. Police sources says that a cigarette could have triggered the alarm.
