Test data appears on official results website

The Flemish Interior Affairs Management Agency has said that results that appeared on its local election results site “Vlaanderen kiest” at around 2pm were based on “test data” designed to give the site a dummy run before the actual results stated to come in.

The Agency is responsible for organizing the municipal and provincial elections in Flanders. The “test” results have since been removed. In 163 Flemish municipalities where voters voted electronically, the polling stations remained open until 3pm.

Nevertheless, “results” from some of these areas were to found on the “Vlaanderen Kiest” site. These include results for the provincial council elections in Flemish Brabant, West Flanders and Antwerp.

A spokesperson for the Flemish Interior Affairs Management Agency told the press agency Belga that the test results were published online by mistake.

The agency is keen to stress that the results are “completely unrelated” to today’s actual election results and have since been removed.

"There were definitely no official results available before 3pm. The first results are expected between 3pm and 3:30pm"
