The children of big international names go horse riding in The Kempen

The children of Bruce Springstein, the late Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg all have something in common. They all come to stables in the Kempen area of Antwerp Province to practice their horse riding skills. The equestrian sport expert Leo De Vos told Radio 2 Antwerp why.

"The World’s best show jumping horses are bred here. The Belgian Warmblood that comes from The Kempen is world-renowned”, Mr De Vos said.

The equestrian sport commentator added that the presence of first rate equestrian infrastructure here also plays a role.

"There are wonderful extensive estates in The Kempen such Axel Verlooy’s estate in Grobbendonk”.

Leo De Vos also believes that typical characteristics of Kempen people also play a role in attracting the offspring of the rich and famous to go and ride there.

"The people that live there are normally very discrete and don’t go around blabbing. However, this isn’t always the case as someone has told ‘Gazet van Antwerpen’ about Bill Gates”.

According to the paper, the founder of Microsoft is buying a stud farm in Retie (Antwerp Province) for 3 million euro.
