Wins for RFC Antwerp and KAS Eupen

In the last two Belgian First Division games of the weekend, KAS Eupen enjoyed a 2-1 home win against Sporting Anderlecht and RFC Antwerp won away at Waasland-Beveren. Sunday evening’s result mean that RFC Antwerp leapfrog over Sporting Anderlecht into third place.

In the 6pm kick-off Sporting Anderlecht paid the price for their nonchalance during a first half in which they conceded 2 goals. Luis Garcia (photo above) opened the scoring for Eupen on 26 minutes and Toyokawa made it 2-0 to Eupen 5 minutes later.

Anderlecht piled on the pressure in the second half and pulled one back through Santini on 78 minutes. However Eupen were able to stand their ground and the match ended 2-1 in Eupen’s favour.

The result sees Sporting Anderlecht slip back to 4th place with 23 points from 12 games. KAS Eupen are 11th with 13 points.

Onwards and upwards for RFC Antwerp

Royal Football Club Antwerp are now 3rd in the league thanks to a 1-0 win away at Waasland-Beveren. The win was well-deserved based on the run of play.

The only goal of the game was scored by Antwerp’s Faris Haroun (photo below) on 58 minutes. The result leaves RFC Antwerp with 25 points from 12 games. Waasland-Beveren has 10 points and is 13th.
