Weather alert: it's Code Yellow!

The Belgian met office has declared a code yellow given the meteorological conditions heading our way.  An awful lot of rain and wind will be our lot Tuesday with hail and snow in the uplands.

Heavy rain is already reported from many parts with sleet in the south of the country.  Up to 30 litres of rainfall per square metre is forecast in places.  Snow too is possible.  It's a mix that could lead to treacherous conditions on our roads.

It's going to be pretty windy too with powerful gusts reaching 80km/h inland.

Tuesday evening and night drier conditions will edge in from southern parts accompanied by clearer weather.
