1953: Queen Elizabeth and King Boudewijn on the first night of Flemish TV!

31/10/18 - Today it's exactly 65 years ago that regular TV broadcasts arrived in Flanders.  The National Institute for Radio, set up in 1930 with the BBC as its model, started TV broadcasts from the iconic Flagey Building in Elsene.  Current affairs flagship Panorama featured the mining disaster in Seraing with King Boudewijn, Brussels horse jumping with Prince, later King Albert, Britain's Queen Elizabeth at the premiere of the Conquest of Everest and the petrol strike in London!
