Sinkhole causes disruption to tram services

Traffic on one of the busiest sections of tramway in the capital is being seriously disrupted after a burst water main caused a sinkhole. The sinkhole on the Louis Schmidtlaan in Etterbeek is just before the tunnel that carries trams 25 and 7 between the Pétillon and Meiser tram stops.

This means that tram 25 and tram 7 services are not running between Meiser and Pétillon. A replacement shuttle tram service is running every 15 minutes instead. It is hoped that normal service will be resumed on Sunday.
