Foreign driver in Leuven hit&run

Marleen and her three daughters are still in shock after the car they were travelling in was involved in a head on collision in a hit-and-run driver at the weekend.  The accident happened in Egenhoven outside Leuven.

The family's car was involved in a nasty head on collision.  Mother Marleen takes up the story: "All of a sudden this car appears on the intersection that we were crossing.  The car hit us head on.  I thought the driver was about to stop because he looked at my daughter, but he sped on."

Leuven police soon recovered the vehicle, but the driver had disappeared as had the car number plates.  The police say they have a good idea who the driver was.  Despite the shock of the accident Marleen's daughter Charlotte managed to note down the foreign car number plate in her mobile."

Only Marleen's eldest daughter Maite had to stay in hospital for observation.  She suffered a number of bruises and a headache and has a painful neck. "It could have been so much worse" Marleen tells Het Laatste Nieuws.
