Hollywood Magic for "Beautiful Boy"

“Beautiful boy”, the movie by Flemish film director Felix van Groeningen, snapped up two prizes at the Hollywood Film Awards.  The Awards form the first big ceremony of the new film season.

Felix van Groeningen won the award for Hollywood Breakthrough Director, while Timothée Chalamet won the prize for best supporting actor. “Beautiful boy” is Felix van Groeningen's English language debut.  Earlier he directed "The broken circle breakdown" and "De helaasheid der dingen" (The Misfortunates).

Felix van Groeningen received the award from Brad Pitt, who made a rare public appearance: "It's great to be fêted.  It's surreal, to be in the room with greats like Nicole Kidman, Viggo Mortensen, Christian Slater...” the Belgian said.

Brad Pitt and Van Groeningen are no strangers: "Pitt's production company produced "Beautiful Boy".  We didn't work together on a daily basis, but I saw him from time to time.  He really contributed to this movie."

“Beautiful boy” focuses on the relationship between a father and a drug addict son played by Timothée Chalamet.  The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and hits Belgian box offices on 21 November.
