Belgian and British PMs lay wreaths in Mons

The British Prime Minister Theresa May and the Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel have attended a ceremony in the Walloon city of Mons to remember the first and last Commonwealth soldier to be killed in the Great War.

Both Prime Ministers laid a wreath at the graves on John Parr and George Ellison. John Parr died on 21 August 1914 just after the outbreak of war. George Ellison died just hours before the armistice on 11 November 1918 when his patrol came under fire in Mons.
