"Little girl playing with pussy": Child Focus stepping up battle against child porn via explicit video titles

The organisation for Missing and abused children, Child Focus, is launching a fresh campaign to tackle child porn. Their main message is that "not all footage of children is as innocent as it seems." Today is the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.

"Three-year-old getting wet", "Cute toddler likes to suck" or "Little girl playing with pussy": Child Focus has launched a new campaign movie containing some explicit titles. "In this case, the footage behind the title is innocent, but we want to make people realise that not all videos of children are innocent", says Nel Broothaers of Child Focus.

The campaign consists of two parts: an awareness campaign for the public at large on social media, and an intervention campaign on the dark web specifically aimed at those downloading porn.

Clickbait seduced 11,000

Members of the public are asked to report any footage that gives rise to concern on the internet, via stopchildporno.be. "At the same time, we are also posting pictures on the dark web, hoping to reach paedophiles directly. We want to convince them to seek help via stopitnow.be", explains Broothaers.

Last year, the dark web version was downloaded 11,000 times. Stop It Now, the helpline for paedophiles, saw the number of calls double in the first weeks after the campaign was started.
