Swapfiets launches bike rental service in Brussels

The Dutch company Swapfiets has officially launched in Brussels. Swapfiets. Swapfiets’ blue bikes were already a feature on the streets of Leuven, Ghent and Antwerp. The Brussels Alderwoman responsible for transport Els Ampe (Flemish liberal) was at the launch of the new service on Thursday.

Those that subscribe to Swapfiets pay 17.5 euro/month (15 euro/month for students) in return they are given a bike. A repair and replacement service that are included in the monthly subscription ensure that you are never without a bike that works for more than 24 hours.

The Brussels Swapfiets service was launched at the company’s new flagship store on the trendy Antoine Dansaertstraat in Brussels city centre. 25 people had already signed up ahead of launch.

The Dutch company already has 90,000 customers in 30 cities in The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Belgium. 3,500 of its customers are in the three Flemish cities of Ghent, Leuven and Antwerp.
