Agreement on new Antwerp coalition

More than two months after the local elections, agreement has been reached between the Flemish nationalists, the liberals and the socialists on a coalition to govern the City of Antwerp for the next six year.

The coalition agreement that if approved by the Antwerp branches of the three parties will provide the city with a new city cabinet for the coming 6 years.

Speaking at the press conference the Mayor of Antwerp Bart De Wever (Flemish nationalist) said that those that signed the agreement have the ambition to “make Antwerp become the livable city” and have policies tailored to the cities great diversity of areas individually rather than having a one-fits-all policy.

If the agreement gains the consent of the local branches of the three parties, Antwerp will be ruled by a nationalist socialist liberal coalition from the start of the new year.
