Cannabis plantation discovered after fire

Fire fighters discovered a cannabis plantation numbering some 600 plants when they went to put out a fire in the Brussels municipality of Evere. The Brussels Judicial Authorities say that the discovery was made at a property on the Stroobantsstraat.

Fire broke out in the building at around 3:30pm on Saturday. A criminal investigation has been launched, but no suspect have yet been detained.

Initial indications show that the fire was not started deliberately. A fault with the electrical installation that had been set up for the plantation is one possible cause of the fire. However, this is yet to be confirmed and a fire investigation is still under way.
