The post is unpaid with only the expenses incurred by the agency’s president when carrying out his/her duties being refunded. WADA’s current President is the Scot Craig Reedie.
At the end of the month the Council of Europe will decided which European candidate will be put forward. In addition to Mr Muyters there are already two other candidates hoping for the Council of Europe’s nomination. These are the Norwegian Linda Helleland and the Polish Sport Minister Witold Banka.
WADA’s Foundation Board will make a final decision on the presidency in June. Mr Muyters still intends to stand in the parliamentary elections on 26 May.
