Eliot Vassamillet to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest

18-year-old Eliot Vassamillet will be Belgium’s representative at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.  On Monday evening the Francophone public broadcaster RTBF announced that a competitor last year’s The Voice Belgium competition will defend our country’s at what will be the 64th European Song Contest in May. 

The VRT and RTBF take turns in selecting the Belgian candidate for contest that is watched by hundreds of millions of views across the world.   

Eliot Vassamillet is from Mons in Hainaut province. He will perform a song composed by Pierre Dumoulin, the singer of the group Roscoe. Pierre Dumoulin worked on Blanche’s City Lights that was Belgium’s entry in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.     

Last year, the VRT sent Sennek to compete at the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest in the Portuguese capital Lisbon. However, the singer from Leuven in Flemish Brabant was knocked out in the semi-finals.
