Less than 2% of drivers tested positive during “Weekend Without Alcohol”

1.8% of the drivers that were breathalysed during last weekend’s “Weekend Without Alcohol Behind the Wheel” were above the limit. The figures come from the Federal Police Service. From 6pm on Friday evening until 6am on Monday morning police across Belgium checked 34,715 drivers for alcohol. 

Of these 34,092 were found to be below the legal alcohol limit for motorists. 623 others tested positive, down slightly on January last year. Then 1.88% of the drivers that were tested during the “Weekend Without Alcohol Behind the Wheel” were found to be over the limit.  

During the last large-scale breathalyser operation in June last year, 2.77% of motorists tested positive.
