Wins for Standard, KAS Eupen and RFC Antwerp

Play-off I came a step closer for RFC Antwerp and Standard de Liège on Saturday evening thanks to wins against Zulte Waregem and KV Kortrijk respectively on Saturday evening. Mean KAS Eupen’s 4-1 drubbing of Sporting Lokeren means that the Pandas are all but certain of prolonging their stay in the First Division, while Lokeren are now 3 points adrift at the bottom of the league. This could become 6 points if Excel Mouscron beat KV Oostende on Sunday evening. The match between Waasland-Beveren and Cercle Brugge ended in a 1-1 draw.

Standard come back to take all 3 points

Standard de Liège came back from being a goal down to beat KV Kortrijk 2-1 at home on Saturday evening. A first half goal by Chevalier had put the West Fleming ahead on 36 minutes.

However, a 66th minute penalty scored by Renaud Emond  (photo above) and a Christian Luyindama goal on in the first minute of stoppage time were enough to give Standard victory. Standard de Liège are now 4th with 39 points from 22 games. KV Kortrijk are 10th with 28 points.

Pandas humiliate Lokeren

Sporting Lokeren remain the odds-on favourite for relegation after a 4-1 defeat away at Eupen. Mamadou Fall open the scoring for Eupen on 5 minutes. The Pandas ended the half with a two-goal lead thanks to a Yuta Toyokawa goal on 40 minutes. It was more of the same in the second half with Siebe Blondelle scoring twice (on 59 and 62 minutes).

Reznicek’s 65th minute goal for Sporting Lokeren wasn’t enough to turn the tide. The result sees KAS Eupen move up to 9th place with 28 points from 22 games. Sporting Lokeren remain bottom with just 14 points.

Antwerp remain third thanks to away win

Royal Football Club Antwerp remain third thanks to a 1-2 win away at Zulte Waregem. RFC Antwerp’s goals came from Dieumerci Mbokani on 41 minutes and Lior Refaelov on 49 minutes.

Zulte Waregem’s Theo Bongonda scored in the third minute of injury time. Antwerp are third with 41 points from 22 games. Zulte Waregem are 14th with 20 points.

The only draw of the evening

The match between Waasland-Beveren and Cercle Brugge was the only draw of the evening. Johanna Omolo opened the scoring for Waasland-Beveren on 51 minutes with Irvin Cardona equalising for Cercle from the penalty spot on 72 minutes. The result leaves Waasland-Beveren 13th with 21 points from 22 games. Cercle Brugge are 11th with 26 points.
