Man caught looking up girls’ skirts during climate demo

A man has been detained after he was caught taking photographs of under-age girls’ underwear during Thursday’s Truant for the Climate demonstration. The man had taken up-skirt photographs of at least 12 underage girls before undercover officers from the Brussel North Local Police service noticed that he was acting inappropriately towards the many teenage girls that were at the demonstration.

He had approached several of the girls and made pelvic thrusts in their direction. The Brussels regional news platform Bruzz reports that he was caught red handed by officers that were there to ensure that the demonstration passed without incident.

The Brussels Judicial Authorities have launched an investigation into suspected sexual offenses involving minors. The suspect has been remanded in custody.

Several mobile phones and computers were confiscated during a search of the suspect’s home. They will be examined for possible sexual content. The Judicial Authorities will decide later on Friday whether the case will be pursued further.

Up until now none of the victims have been identified. Once detectives have identified the victims they will be contacted.
