Third suspect detained in Antwerp shooting investigation

A third suspect has been detained in the ongoing investigation into Saturday afternoon’s shooting in Antwerp. One person was killed and another two injured in the shooting on the Brederodestraat in the South area of the city.

Two suspects were detained on Saturday. The Brederodestraat has been the scene of tension between the Turkish and Kurdish communities. However, according to witnesses the shooting was linked to a personal feud rather than issues between Turks and Kurds.

The two people that were detained on Saturday are a 60-year-old man and his 32-year-old son. The third person to be detained is reported to be the partner of the 32-year-old. The partner will be questioned with the two other suspect. An Examining Magistrate will decide whether they will remain in custody later on Sunday.
