Victories for KRC Genk, RFC Antwerp, KV Kortrijk and Zulte Waregem

Four of this weekend’s eight Belgian First Division games were played on Saturday evening. There were victories for the league leaders KRC Genk, RFC Antwerp, KV Kortrijk and Zulte Waregem.  

A late goal from Pozuelo on 83 minutes saw KRC Genk come back from behind to claim a 1-2 victory away at Waasland-Beveren. The home side had opened the scoring through Boljevic on 11 minutes and they maintained their lead until Samatta scored an equalizer on for Genk on 60 minutes.

The result leaves 9 points clear at the top. The Limburgers have 54 points from 24 games. Waasland-Beveren 15th with 22 points. 

Early and late goal give Antwerp victory

A goal on four minutes by Ivo and a Hairemans goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time were enough to give RFC Antwerp a 0-2 victory away at KV Oostende.

The result sees RFC Antwerp move up to 2nd place with 45 points from 24 games. However, Club Brugge could overtake them if they beat AA Gent on Sunday afternoon. KV Oostende are 14th with 23 points.

Time is running out for Lokeren

Yet another defeat, this time at the hands of KV Kotrijk means that with just 6 matches to go, Sporting Lokeren remain bottom, a full 8 points away from safety. Avenatti opened the scoring for KV Kortrijk a minute before half time. Sporting Lokeren equalized on 49 minutes through Saroka. However, a Stojanovic goal in the 4th minute of stoppage time made it 2-1 to KV Kortijk. KV Kortrijk are 9th with 31 points from 24 games. Sporting Lokeren remain bottom with just 14 points.

Plenty of goals in Zulte Waregem – Club Brugge

There was no shortage of goal in Waregem on Saturday evening. Harbaoui opened the scoring for Zulte Waregem on 11 minutes, Bruno levelled the score on 25 minutes. The half ended 2-1 to Zulte Waregem after Nil De Pauw scored on 40 minutes. Cercle came back again thanks to a Cardona goal on 64 minutes. However, an 83rd minute goal from Sylla ensured that the 3 points stayed in Waregem. Both Zulte Waregem and Cercle Brugge have 26 points from 24 games and are 12th and 13th respectively.
