Belgian run down by train after après-ski party

A Belgian man is dead after he was hit by a train in the Austrian ski resort of Mayrhofen.  The 27-year-old was returning to his lodgings after an après-ski party and was walking along the track.

It was early evening when the Belgian decided to walk along the Zillertalbahn line that connects Mayrhofen and Jenbach in Tyrol.  The train driver saw the young man, sounded his horn and executed an emergency stop, but to no avail.  The Belgian tried to get out of the train's way, but failed.  He was thrown into an adjoining meadow where he died of his injuries.
