20 horses confiscated in hormone investigation

Two properties were searched on Friday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into the use of hormones by those involved in equestrian sports. 20 horses, hormone products and syringes were confiscated. The investigation started when a suspicious package was intercepted at Zaventem Airport, near Brussels on 31 July 2018. 

The package that was sent from the United States and contained hormonal products that are not licenced in Belgium. The products were destined for racehorses. The Antwerp Judicial Authorities launched an investigation.

On Friday officers from Bodukap local police services and the Federal Food Safety Agency searched two properties. A number of people were question and 20 horses, hormone products and syringes were confiscated.
