Club Brugge close the gap on KRC Genk

A 1-0 home win against Sint-Truiden sees Club Brugge narrow the gap at the top of the table to just 6 points. The league leader KRC Genk could only manage a 1-1 draw away at Sporting Charleroi. Elsewhere KV Kortrijk enjoyed a 2-1 home win against Cercle Brugge and KV Oostende’s home game against Waasland-Beveren ended in a 1-1 draw.

A somewhat dubious penalty awarded 15 minutes from game gave Club Brugge what on balance was a deserved victory against Sint-Truiden. It was Hans Vanaken that scored from the penalty spot. Club Brugge remain 2nd with 53 points from 28 games. Sint-Truiden are 4th with 46 points.

A result that pleased neither team

The 1-1 score in the match between Sporting Charleroi and KRC Genk will please neither team. Bryan Heynen put Genk ahead on 24 minutes with David Henen equalizing for Charleroi on 56 minutes. KRC Genk remain top with 59 points from 28 games. Sporting Charleroi are 9th with 39 points.

Second half goals in Ostend

Both goals in the 1-1 draw between KV Oostende and Fashion Sakala opened the scoring for KVO on 60 minutes. However a Lombaerts own goal on 69 minutes made for a full time score of 1-1.

The result KV Oostende 14th with 27 points from 28 games. Waasland-Beveren are 15th with 27 points.

KV Kortrijk keep Play-off I dreams alive

KV Kortrijk are still in with a chance of finishing in the top 6 after a 2-1 home win against Cercle Brugge. Cercle had led for much of the game after a Delacourt goal on 10 minutes.

However, 2 goals from Avenatti on 80 and 89 minutes were enough to give KV Kortrijk victory. The result leaves KV Kortrijk 8th with 40 points from  28 games. Cercle Brugge are 13th with 28 points.
