Youth for Climate protests in Louvain-la-Neuve

Youth For Climate is demonstrating in favour of greater action against climate change in the university town of Louvain-la-Neuve (Walloon Brabant). It's the ninth Thursday in a row that schoolchildren and students take to the streets to pile pressure on politicians.

After demos in Brussels and Antwerp Youth For Climate opted for a Walloon venue for the first time this week.  Students and schoolchildren gathered on University Square at 10:30 this morning carrying an assortment of self-made banners.  Organisers hoped 3,000 people would join the march. The crowd includes young and old, families, students, researchers and academics.

Protests are also planned in other towns.  In Antwerp Youth For Climate is staging a "Human Billboard" on the Opera Square.  A plog action is planned for Mechelen where joggers and ramblers will also collect roadside waste.
