Arrival of Zinédine Zidane is bad news for goalkeeper Courtois

Belgium's national goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been left out of the Real Madrid squad for the home game against Celta de Vigo. It was a remarkable decision by Zidane, for his first game as Manager of Real Madrid after his return.

Thibaut Courtois was always certain of his place in the starting 11 under the former coach, Santiago Solari. He also didn't make any major mistakes in goal in recent weeks, although Real sometimes had to swallow more goals than they are used to.

Zidane made a clear statement in his first game back at the helm of Real Madrid: he chose goalkeeper Keylor Navas above Courtois, who has to watch from the bench. It is not clear whether it is just a temporary choice to stimulate Courtois, or whether Zidane clearly has Navas in his head as his permanent first-choice goalkeeper.
