366 lists to take part in the elections on 26 May

At the end of last week the political parties presented their electoral lists for the regional, federal and European elections on 26 May to the presidents of the electoral bureaus and the constituency college.

According to figures released at the weekend by the Federal Interior Ministry, 366 electoral lists have been put forward. Almost 7,000 (6,924) people have put themselves forward as candidates.

Of the 366 lists presented, 244 have been presented digitally. “This constitutes a significant reduction in the workload for those working at the main bureaus and the constituency colleges” an Interior Ministry Spokesperson told the press agency Belga.

Those wishing to present a list had until 4pm on Monday to present their lists. The parties now have until 4pm on Thursday to check for any irregularities that might need modifying.
