Antwerp, the running capital of Belgium for one day with almost 40,000 runners

Antwerp was the venue for various running events on Sunday: the Antwerp marathon, the 10 Miles and other (shorter) events such as the Short Run and Kids' Run.

It was a grey and chilly Sunday morning, and marathon runners had to start first, relatively early in the morning. They were not really at ease, but the weather was healthier than last year, when it suddenly turned very hot, with many participants becoming unwell. This was not the case this time. Temperatures were lower and there was more oxygen in the air.

The Ten Miles is Belgium's biggest running event. In all, 38,500 runners took part in the various runs, while tens of thousands were cheering them. Next year, the marathon will take place in September, but the Ten Miles stays in April.
