Wins for Club Brugge and RSC Anderlecht

In Sunday’s two Play-off I games, RSC Anderlecht enjoyed their first win of the Play-offs, beating Standard de Liège 2-1. Meanwhile, Club Brugge are still in which a chance of winning the league. Their 0-1 win against AA Gent leaves them 6 points behind the league-leaders KRC Genk with 3 games still left to play. 

In a match that saw them play the lion’s share of match with 10 men after Bornauw was sent off on 11 minutes. RSC Anderlecht were able to take all 3 points from their game on Saturday afternoon. Tari Verschaeren opened the scoring for Anderlecht on 37 minutes and the first half ended 1-0. Medhi Carcela equalised for Standard on 50 minutes.

However, the visitors’ joy was short-lived and Ivan Santini scored what turned out to be the winning goal 7 minutes later. The 2-1 score line leave Anderlecht 5th with 30 points Standard are 4th with 36 points. 

One valid goal, three goals disallowed

In a match that saw no fewer than three goals be disallowed, Club Brugge enjoyed a 0-1 win away at AA Gent. Club Brugge’s goal came from Match Rits on 33 minutes.

AA Gent had two goals correctly disallowed, whether what would have been Club Brugge’s second goal of the evening should have been annulled is open to debate. With three matches left to play Club Brugge trail the league-leaders KRC Genk by 6 points.

The championship race could well be decided in Bruges next Sunday when Club Brugge take on KRC Genk.
