Nineteenth case of legionella diagnosed in East Flanders

A nineteenth person has been diagnosed as having contracted legionnaire’s disease. The man from the Evergem  area of East Flanders was admitted to the Jan Palfijn hospital in Ghent on Thursday evening. So far the legionella outbreak in East Flanders has claimed two lives.   

The latest person to become infected started to become ill on Monday. An examination by doctors at the hospital concluded that he had contracted legionella.

Although the man has been diagnosed as having contracted legionella his condition is not described as “giving cause for concern”. It is still unclear as to  what connection the man has to the possible source of the infection. So far the legionella outbreak has claimed two lives.
