Bomb alert closes Brussels North and all Brussels road tunnels

The Brussels North Station was evacuated on Monday afternoon as a result of a bomb threat.  All Brussels road tunnels too had to be closed too because the control centre for the tunnels is located in the North Centre complex.

It was around 2PM that information about a bomb at Brussels North was received.  Trains were not allowed to stop at the station, while all traffic on the North South Link was even halted for a while. No trams stopped at the station either.  Fortunately, by early evening a normal service could resume.

The tunnels too have meanwhile been reopened but their earlier closure caused problems on the inner Brussels orbital ring road well into the early evening.
