Bones in plastic bag are human remains!

The bones discovered in Zellik (Asse - Flemish Brabant) last week have been identified as human remains.  Halle-Vilvoorde prosecutors have confirmed the news following an examination by a police doctor.

It was a rambler who first discovered the bones in a plastic bag along the Hortensialaan in Zellik last week.  The examination revealed that the bones belong to a young adult, who died several dozen years ago.  How this person perished has not yet been established.

Carol Vercarre of the prosecutor's office: "It's been established that the bones are those of a human skull belonging to a young adult, who died decades ago.  The exact date of death is hard to make out.  Cause of death and identity have not yet been established.  There is no evidence of a violent death.  The investigation is in full swing and we're pulling out all the stops to identify this person.  It won't be easy as this happened a long time ago."
