Yet another hit & run in Schaarbeek: 14-year-old injured

A 14-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after a hit & run in the Brussels suburb of Schaarbeek.  The accident happened when the girl was crossing a road.  The driver sped off and is now being tracked down by the police.

The accident happened on an intersection on the Waelhemstraat.  The girl was crossing on her way to school.  Willemien Baert of Brussels prosecutors: “The exact circumstances remain unclear.  The girl was crossing but it’s unclear whether she was on the zebra crossing or not.  Traffic experts and forensic technicians are at the scene.

This isn’t the first hit & run in Schaarbeek.  Last week a boy of six was injured by a driver who absconded the scene.  At the beginning of the year a girl of 5 was badly injured when she and her father were hit by a car near the Jopsaphat Park.  The two people in the car fled the scene but could later be tracked down.
