Ghent is the venue for a "somewhat different" world record

The city of Ghent was the scene of a bizarre challenge on Sunday: getting as many cyclists together wearing a yellow jersey. And it was a success: no fewer than 683 participants were seen at the Watersportbaan, a couple of hours before the start of the Belgian cycling championships on the road. The previous record of 270 was smashed. Among those attending the event was Lucien Van Impe, the king of the mountains who was the last Belgian to win the Tour de France (and bring the Yellow Jersey home) in 1976.
