Tour de France: who are the Belgians to watch out for?

VRT sports journalists have taken a look at this year’s field of riders and have come to the conclusion that best Belgian hopes are on a Belgian winning an individual stage.

A lot is expected of Remco Evenepoel (pictured).  He is seen as a potential Tour de France victor in the future, but for now Evenepoel still needs time to grow his talent.  The field of Belgian riders doesn’t contain too many riders expected to do well in mass sprints either.  This being said a whole number of riders are seen as in with a chance of winning an individual stage.

In recent years a rider like Thomas De Gendt has built up quite a reputation as an escape artist.  Wout van Aert’s chances too are rated high after his achievements of recent weeks.  The names of Greg Van Avermaet, Oliver Naesen, Dylan Teuns, Tiesj Benoot and Tim Wellens are all being put forward as potential stage winners.  With a field like that Belgians can look forward to a fruitful Tour!
