Jumbo-Visma win Tour de France team time trial in Brussels
The Jumbo-Visma team completed the race, the second stage of this year’s Tour de France, in 28 minutes and 57 seconds.
Team Ineos was second with Deceuninck-Quick Step third. Mike Teunissen of the Netherlands riding for Jumbo-Visma retains the leader’s yellow jersey. Ineos was first to start and held a commanding lead for much of the afternoon. World champions Deceuninck-Quick Step were eager for a time trial win and were faster than Ineos for much of the route. In the event Deceuninck-Quick Step finished 0”82 behind Ineos, but the die had not yet been cast.
Jumbo-Visma got off to a magnificent start and minutes into the race improved Ineos’s time by 14 seconds. By the finish a 20 second gulf had emerged. With Teunissen’s win yesterday and their time trial win today Jumbo-Visma made it two wins out of two!
