Fire at Antwerp fire station
The Antwerp fire service was glad to have fire fighters nearby on Sunday when fire broke out in the Post Noord fire station. The fire station did need to be evacuated but fire-fighters soon had the blaze under control.
Smoke detectors alerted staff to the fire. The fire service swiftly dispatched a team of fire-fighters, who were able to prevent the blaze from spreading. Fortunately, staff had just tested the evacuation plan.
Fire chief Bert Brugghemans said: “Fire, it can happen to anybody. Smoke detectors ensured it was only a minor incident. It proves everybody should get smoke detectors!”
The blaze did cause a lot of damage. Water damage, though, is limited.
