Two-year-old toddler drowns in swimming pool

A two-year-old child has drown in a swimming pool at Oostakker, near to the East Flemish city of Ghent. News of the tragedy appeared in Wednesday edition of the daily ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ and has been confirmed by the Ghent Local Police Service. The emergency services received a report that the boy was missing at around 8pm on Tuesday evening. A search was started and the toddler’s body was found a little later in a swimming pool.  

 

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the boy. However, it was too late and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Judicial Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the events that led to the boy drowning. It is likely that the child’s death was accidental.
