More and more tourists spending the night in Flanders

Flanders remains popular as a tourist destination. During the first four months of this year the number of nights spend by tourists in hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs, youth hostels and self-catering accommodation was up by 231,000 compared with the same period last year. This is notwithstanding the fact that 2018 was already a record year. The figures come from the Flemish Transport Minister Ben Weyts (nationalist).

Between January and April 4.1 million tourists visited our region. They spend a total of 8.7 nights in hotels, guesthouses and other tourist accommodation.

Visitor numbers were particularly high during the Easter vacation. Tourists numbers this April were up by 10% compared with April last year. The number of people staying overnight was up by 7%.

Most foreign tourists visiting Flanders come from neighbouring countries such as Germany, The Netherlands and France. However, Russians, Brazilians, Chinese and American tourists are visiting our region in increasing numbers.
