Resurfacing work on the E17 motorway starts on Sunday night

The structural maintenance on the E17 motorway between Zwijnaarde and Destelbergen, near Ghent (East Flanders) enters a second phase from Sunday evening. The Flemish Highways and Traffic Agency says that the work will now be on the southbound carriageway (towards Kortijk).

An 8 kilometre stretch of the motorway will be completely resurfaced. The resurfacing work on the Kortijk-bound carriageway follows the resurfacing work already carried out on the Antwerp-bound carriageway of the road.

At 6pm on Sunday evening work will commence. The plan is that everything should go quickly during the first 10 days of the work. Every two days there will be changes to which junctions are closed and which are open.

The Highways and Traffic Agency advises motorists planning to use the stretch of motorway where the work is being carried out to check the situation before they set off. A 50 kilometre/hour speed limit will be in force for the duration of the work.
