A Dutch woman that was a passenger in the car died at the scene. The driver died of his injuries in hospital. Another vehicle was involved in the accident. The driver of this vehicle, a 31-year-old man, tested positive for alcohol. He had collided with the back of the car in front of him, making it leave the road and crash into a tree.
The impact was worst on the passenger side and the female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The East Limburg Fire Service attended the accident in order to free those that were inside the wreckage. The 49-year-old driver was taken to the Genk Campus of the East Limburg Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died. The 31-year-old driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
An accident investigator was sent to scene.
