The work in the De Bond car park should be completed by the end of next year. The number of parking spaces for cars will remain unchanged.

Bart Crols of the Belgian rail company NMBS told VRT Radio 2 Flemish Brabant “This constitutes a considerable increase in the number of parking spaces for cyclists. The work is due to start on Wednesday and according to the schedule it should have been completed by the end of next year”.

One the work has been completed the first underground floor of the car park will be entirely given over to cyclists. A total of 4,000 parking spaces will be available for cyclists. Cars will still be welcome on the second underground floor.

The extra parking spaces in the underground car park will bring the total number of spaces for cyclists in the immediate vicinity of the station to 10,000. The lion's share of the work is being financed by the rail company. It will cost several million euro.
