Fire caused disruption to metro services on Tuesday morning

There was disruption to services on the Brussels metro this Tuesday morning. Services on line 5 between the Merode metro station in Etterbeek and the Herrmann-Debroux metro station in Oudergem were suspended for over an hour after a wooden plank caught fire in the metro tunnel between Hankar and Pétillon stations.

Some line 1 services were also subject to delays. The disruption started at around 9:25am.

A replacement bus service took line 5 passengers from Merode to Herrmann Debroux and the stations in between. The fire service attended the scene and normal service was resumed by around 10:30am.
