A visits that brings the horror of the occupation to life

As part of the commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the liberation 75 young people visited the Dossin Barracks in Mechelen and Breendonk Fort on Sunday morning. Both these locations played a terrible role during the Nazi occupation. During the war the Dossin Barracks was used by the Germans as a transit facility for Jews and gypsies prior to their deportation to concentration camps. Breendonk served as a detention and transit camp during the occupation.
