Motorway police chase ends at Antwerp’s Sportpaleis

One police vehicle was damaged during a chase to intercept a vehicle that had failed to stop when asked by police on the A12 Brussels to Antwerp motorway on Sunday night. Police were carrying out checks for drugs on the drivers of and passengers in vehicles travelling along the A12. One car failed to stop and police proceeded to pursue it along the A12 and onto the Antwerp Orbital Motorway. 

The vehicle was finally brought to a halt at the Sportpaleis in the Antwerp district of Deurne. During the interception one police cart hat had been used to block the fugitive vehicle’s path was damaged. No one was injured.

 

The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of drugs and was detained. He resisted arrest and was taken to hospital for an assessment of any injuries he might have sustained.
