Blankenberge bans alcohol consumption in public places
The municipal authorities in the West Flemish coastal resort of Blankenberge have banned the consumption of alcohol in public places such as streets, beaches and parks.
Anyone caught flouting the ban that comes into force from today (Saturday 27 March) will face a fine of 250 euro. Initially an exception was to have been made for the consumption of alcoholic beverages inside beach huts. However, this has now been shelved.
