533 COVID-19 patients in intensive care

The number of patients with COVID-19 that are being cared for on the intensive care wards of the country’s hospitals has now risen to 533. Normally no figures are released on Sunday and Monday as the public health science institute Sciensano doesn’t publish a report on the pandemic on these days. 

However, with concerns about the fourth wave mounting the office of the Federal Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke has provided VRT News with the very latest figures. 

They show that after having risen above 500 yesterday, the number of patients with COVID-19 in the country’s ICUsThe expectation is that the figures will rise further during the coming days. The figure of 208 hospital admissions is high, not least because yesterday was a Sunday and normally fewer patients are admitted to hospital at the weekend.
