Fewer Francophones learning Dutch in secondaries

In secondary school fewer and fewer Francophones are signing up for Dutch language lessons.  Pupils have to choose a first foreign language during their first year and an overwhelming majority pick English and not Dutch. 

Fewer than a third of pupils opt for Dutch, while two-thirds pick English.

Many Francophone youngsters see Dutch as a difficult language and believe English is more useful.
