Extra police patrols on Zeebrugge Beach after 20 kilograms of cocaine are washed ashore

Police are conducting extra patrols on Zeebrugge Beach (Bruges – West Flanders) after two packages of cocaine were washed ashore at the weekend.  Police fear more could be on the way.

The drugs have a street value of at least one million euros. Where the packages came from is unclear for now. It is possible that they were lost during a transaction at sea or were deliberately dropped off near the coast to be collected by traffickers. As it is unclear whether more packages could wash ashore in coming hours, police decided to instigate extra patrols as a precaution.  Meanwhile the investigation is in full swing.
